  • The Owen County Circuit Court is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to serve as Assistant Court Reporter.

    Position Overview

    The Assistant Court Reporter attends and records court hearings and jury trials, takes notes, marks and maintains exhibits, and prepares hearing log sheets. This role also handles a variety of administrative duties in support of the court.

    Key Duties

    • Attend and record court hearings and jury trials
    • Prepare and maintain log sheets, recordings, and Judge’s notes
    • Enter daily pleadings and Court Orders into the case management system
    • Prepare Court documents including Orders, notices, and jury instructions
    • Prepare transcripts of court proceedings for appellate courts
    • Prepare daily court calendars and schedule hearings via Odyssey
    • Coordinate telephonic and video appearances
    • Answer phones and assist parties, attorneys, and the public

    Minimum Qualifications

    • High school diploma or GED with relevant experience in a court or county government setting
    • Working knowledge of court policies, procedures, and terminology
    • Proficiency with Odyssey, Microsoft Office, and standard office equipment
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations with discretion

  • Owen County residents and interested parties are hereby notified of the upcoming Real Property Tax Sale, scheduled to begin on

    Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at 10:00 AM local time. The sale will take place in the Commissioners Room on the 2nd Floor of the Owen County Courthouse.

    This public auction will feature properties listed for sale due to delinquent taxes and/or special assessments.

    Key Information for Prospective Bidders and Property Owners:

    • Location: Commissioners Room, 2nd Floor Courthouse, Owen County. At the discretion of local officials, the tax sale may switch to an online format. If an electronic sale is conducted, it will be at www.zeusauction.com, commencing on the same date and time listed above. All location updates will be posted at www.sriservices.com prior to the tax sale.
    • Court Judgment Application: The county auditor and county treasurer will apply for a court judgment against the properties on or after August 20, 2025.
    • Defenses to Application: Any defense to the application for judgment must be filed with the Owen County Circuit Court and served on the county auditor and treasurer before August 20, 2025. The court will set a hearing date at least seven (7) days before the advertised sale date.
    • Minimum Bid: Property will not be sold for less than the sum of delinquent taxes, special assessments, current year taxes and special assessments, all penalties due, and an amount prescribed by the county auditor for postage, publication, and other direct tax sale costs.
    • Redemption Period: If a property is sold, the amount required to redeem it will be 110% of the minimum bid if redeemed within six months, or 115% of the minimum bid if redeemed after six months, plus additional amounts. The period of redemption for certificates sold in the tax sale expires on Wednesday, September 9, 2026. For certificates struck to the county, the period of redemption may expire Wednesday, January 7, 2026.
    • Registration for Bidding: If you are interested in bidding, you may register online at https://sriservices.com/. This registration is valid for all counties that SRI services, requiring only one registration for all. Please bring your completed registration form and W9 form to the sale. Business entities must provide a Certificate of Existence or Foreign Registration Statement to the Owen County Treasurer.
    • Property List: A complete property list can be obtained at www.sriservices.com or in an alternative form upon request.

    This notice and the tax sale are conducted pursuant to the laws of the State of Indiana regulating the sale of land for delinquent taxes, specifically I.C. 6-1.1-24-1 et seq. The County does not warrant the accuracy of the street address or common description of the property.
