    Position Overview

    The Deputy Assessor/Sales Disclosures is responsible for maintaining sales disclosure records, performing field work functions, and assisting the public.

    Key Duties

    • Maintain sales disclosure records and reconcile monies charged with the Auditor’s Office
    • Perform field work including visits to sales disclosures, new construction, and demolition sites
    • Assist taxpayers with assessment paperwork and submitted sales disclosures
    • Answer phones and greet office visitors, directing inquiries to the appropriate department
    • Assist the Assessor with duties as needed

    Minimum Qualifications

    • High school diploma or GED
    • Possession of and ability to maintain Indiana Level I and II Assessor/Appraiser certifications
    • Thorough knowledge of Indiana tax law and real estate assessment/appraisal procedures
    • Valid driver’s license and demonstrated safe driving record
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, often under time pressure
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • The Owen County Circuit Court is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to serve as Assistant Court Reporter.

    Position Overview

    The Assistant Court Reporter attends and records court hearings and jury trials, takes notes, marks and maintains exhibits, and prepares hearing log sheets. This role also handles a variety of administrative duties in support of the court.

    Key Duties

    • Attend and record court hearings and jury trials
    • Prepare and maintain log sheets, recordings, and Judge’s notes
    • Enter daily pleadings and Court Orders into the case management system
    • Prepare Court documents including Orders, notices, and jury instructions
    • Prepare transcripts of court proceedings for appellate courts
    • Prepare daily court calendars and schedule hearings via Odyssey
    • Coordinate telephonic and video appearances
    • Answer phones and assist parties, attorneys, and the public

    Minimum Qualifications

    • High school diploma or GED with relevant experience in a court or county government setting
    • Working knowledge of court policies, procedures, and terminology
    • Proficiency with Odyssey, Microsoft Office, and standard office equipment
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations with discretion

    The Owen County Auditor’s Office is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to fill a multi-faceted role supporting county tax administration, payroll, and property records.

    Position Overview

    This position serves three key functions within the Auditor’s Office:

    • Settlement & Tax Deputy β€” Processes property tax amounts, reconciles and distributes paid taxes, assists with tax sale, and manages property tax data.
    • Assistant Payroll & Benefits Deputy β€” Assists with payroll processing for all County employees, prepares reports, maintains files, and supports Human Resources duties.
    • Assistant Property Transfer Deputy β€” Coordinates property transfers, manages related records, and performs clerical duties.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • High school diploma or GED
    • Knowledge of bookkeeping, accounting, and budgeting principles
    • Familiarity with County government operations and ordinances
    • Proficiency with computer software including word processing, spreadsheets, and database programs
    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, sometimes under deadline pressure
    • Must be able to handle occasional interactions with irate or hostile members of the public with diplomacy and professionalism
