The Surveyor assembles and assesses land and geographic information which is used for planning and regulation of the land, the sea and related structures.

Surveyors duties may include:

  • Working out the size and shape of an area of land

  • Working out the position of boundaries of public or private land

  • Compiling and evaluating data and interpreting codes of practice

  • Studying the natural and social environment, measuring land and managing resources and using the data in planning development in urban, rural and regional areas

  • Planning, developing and redeveloping urban or rural property, land and buildings

  • Planning, measuring and managing construction works

  • Producing plans, maps, files, charts and reports.
