The Owen County Circuit Court is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to serve as Assistant Court Reporter.
Position Overview
The Assistant Court Reporter attends and records court hearings and jury trials, takes notes, marks and maintains exhibits, and prepares hearing log sheets. This role also handles a variety of administrative duties in support of the court.
Key Duties
- Attend and record court hearings and jury trials
- Prepare and maintain log sheets, recordings, and Judge’s notes
- Enter daily pleadings and Court Orders into the case management system
- Prepare Court documents including Orders, notices, and jury instructions
- Prepare transcripts of court proceedings for appellate courts
- Prepare daily court calendars and schedule hearings via Odyssey
- Coordinate telephonic and video appearances
- Answer phones and assist parties, attorneys, and the public
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED with relevant experience in a court or county government setting
- Working knowledge of court policies, procedures, and terminology
- Proficiency with Odyssey, Microsoft Office, and standard office equipment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations with discretion
