Owen County Highway Department is responsible for 632 miles of roads. 

The Highway Department is responsible for maintenance and preservation of all certified county roads and drainage systems.  The department’s specific functions include: road resurfacing, chip sealing, grading roads, vegetation control, ditching, sign maintenance, snow removal, and fleet maintenance of county highway vehicles/equipment.

Mission

THE MISSION OF THE OWEN COUNTY HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT IS TO PLAN AND USE OUR RESOURCES WISELY, WORKING WITHIN OUR BUDGET TO PROVIDE SAFE AND RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION SERVICES THROUGH MAINTENANCE AND IMPROVEMENT. WE WILL STRIVE TO ACCOMPLISH THIS MISSION WITH THE SPIRIT OF TEAMWORK, BY ALLOWING OPEN COMMUNICATION WITH A TRUE SENSE OF DEDICATION AND RESPONSIBILITY TO OUR COMMUNITY. 

 

To apply for Field permits or ROW agreements/permits please call the office. The Department only accepts checks or money orders.
