Mission Statement

The mission of Owen County Court Services is to promote non-criminal behavior through cost-effective, community based, appropriate, and effective supervision while utilizing evidence-based practices including incentives and graduated sanctions, thereby reducing risk to the community.

🏛️ Owen County Community Corrections Advisory Board

Meetings will be held at Owen County Court Services at 4:00 PM.

⚖️ Justice Reinvestment Advisory Council (JRAC)

Meetings take place at Owen County Court Services at 3:30 PM.

The Owen County JRAC was established under Indiana Code 33-38-9.5-4 to promote evidence-based practices for community-based sentencing and recidivism reduction. The Council also evaluates local correctional practices and reports to the State JRAC.

👥 Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative (JDAI)

Meetings are held at Owen Valley Christian Fellowship from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM.

This initiative supports collaborative, data-driven strategies to safely reduce youth detention and improve outcomes for juveniles in Owen County.

Circuit Courts

Owen County’s Circuit Court system is made up of two divisions—each with its own judge, docket, and responsibilities. These courts handle civil, criminal, juvenile, and family cases for the county.

Screen Hotline

Daily check-ins for drug test appearances are required and can be completed by phone or online. Failure to check in between 4:00 AM and 9:59 AM will be tracked as a missed test. Both check-in options are available in English and Spanish. You must have your assigned Call-In Code or PIN to check in.

  • If a drug test is required:
    • Monday–Friday: Report to the Probation Office before 3:00 PM
  • Check-in must be completed daily between 4:00 AM and 9:59 AM

Transfer Fees

  • $125 to transfer out of state
  • $75 to transfer to another county (pay the receiving county)

Probation Fees

One-Time Fees:

  • $100 Programming Fee (if applicable)
  • $50/$100 Administrative Fee ($50 for misdemeanors; $100 for felonies or juveniles)
  • $50 Community Service Hours Fee (if applicable)
  • $50/$100 Initial Fee ($50 for misdemeanors or juveniles; $100 for felonies)

Recurring Fees:

  • $20/$30 Monthly Fee ($20 for misdemeanors; $30 for felonies)
  • $15 Monthly Fee for juveniles

Home Detention Fees

  • $14 per day for adults
  • $8 per day for juveniles/adults on verified social security/pre-trial
  • $50 installation fee
  • $50 moving fee
  • $50 transfer in/out of county

Court Service Fees

Credit/Debit Card

Pay at the counter with your debit/credit card (must have Photo ID), or online at www.govpaynow.com or toll-free at 888-604-7888. Use pay location code 6596, the probationer’s name, and SSN. Service fee 3.5% (min $3.50).

Cash

Pay at the counter in the office.

Money Order

Pay at the counter in the office or mail to 64 E. Market St., Spencer, IN 47460.

Clerk Service Fees

Pay at the Clerk’s Office counter with your debit/credit card (must have Photo ID), or online at www.paygov.us or toll-free at 886-480-8552. Service fee 3.5% (min $3.50).

Frequently Asked Questions

Can my probation be transferred?

Yes, your probation can be transferred, but it must be approved by the Judge. Transfer fees apply: $125 for out-of-state and $75 for in-state transfers. You must continue following the rules of Owen County Probation even after transferring.

Can I leave the state while on probation?

No, not without prior permission. You must first get approval from both the Judge and your Probation Officer. There are forms available that you can fill out and submit to the court for travel requests.

What if I have a No Contact Order?

You must fully comply with all terms of the No Contact Order. This means you are not allowed to have any direct or indirect contact with the individuals or locations listed in the order.

What is a violation of probation?

A violation of probation happens when you fail to follow any of the conditions set by the court. This can result in further penalties, including potential jail time.
