📋 About the Clerk’s Office
The Owen County Clerk’s Office is a Constitutional Office, limited to two consecutive four-year terms. The Clerk serves as the official record keeper for all county-level court cases—including civil, criminal, traffic, probate, and juvenile matters.
In addition to managing judicial records, the Clerk acts as Secretary to both the Election Board and the County Records Commission. The office also handles financial transactions related to the court system, including collecting and distributing filing fees, fines, restitution, probation fees, and child support.
Other responsibilities include:
- Issuing marriage licenses
- Recording judicial liens and State Tax Warrants
- Notifying parties in court-related cases
- Administering local elections
- Managing candidate filings and campaign finance

💳 Payment Services
- PayGov.US – Pay court fees/fines, judgements and traffic citations via debit or credit card.
- Please contact our office prior to paying your traffic citation online to ensure the correct amount is paid to avoid a delay in processing.
- Child Support Payments – Cash only payments are accepted in our office.

- We have a limited number of legal forms available. Please contact our office if you have any questions.

💍 Marriage Licenses
Marriage License Application (Please apply online prior to completing in person)
- Processed between 8am-11:30 am and 1pm-3:30pm
- We do offer a computer kiosk to start your application if needed
- You must apply for your marriage license in the county you live in Indiana
- $25.00 – Owen County residents
- $65.00 – Out-of-state residents
- Documents required at time of application:
- If previously divorced – Must provide the most recent divorce decree
- Driver’s license, State ID or Passport
- You must be married within 60 days from the date of your application
- We do not perform marriage ceremonies in our office
